Intel’s (INTC) top AI executive, Sachin Katti, left the company to join OpenAI (OPENAI), where he will work on building out OpenAI’s compute infrastructure for artificial general intelligence, according to a post he published on social media platform X.
OpenAI President Greg Brockman wrote on X that he is “incredibly excited” to work with Katti on designing the massive compute infrastructure required for future AGI systems. To this, Katti responded with enthusiasm.
Intel (INTC) said that its CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, will now oversee the company. “AI remains one of Intel’s highest strategic priorities, and we are focused on executing our technology and product roadmap across emerging AI workloads,” Intel (INTC) said in a statement.
Katti joined Intel (INTC) four years ago and was promoted to CTO and AI chief earlier this year.
