Amazon (AMZN) founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos is creating an AI start-up that he will help manage as its co-chief executive, The New York Times reported.
The company called Project Prometheus is starting with $6.2B in funding, partly from Bezos, making it one of the most well-financed early-stage start-ups in the world, the report added citing people familiar with the company.
This is the first time Bezos has taken a formal operational role in a company since he stepped down as CEO of Amazon in July 2021. However, he is deeply involved in Blue Origin, a competitor to Elon Musk’s SpaceX (SPACE), his official title at the space company is founder.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has his own AI company called xAI (X.AI).
