J&J withdraws acid reflux device from non-US markets – report

The device is designed as a flexible ring of small magnets placed around the lower esophageal sphincter to prevent stomach acid from refluxing into the esophagus. It is used for patients with persistent gastroesophageal reflux, a disease where stomach contents seep backward from the stomach into the food pipe.
