JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon said his retirement is still “several years away,” when asked about succession in a media interview that aired on Monday.
While pundits speculate on his retirement, Dimon said he doesn’t have to retire soon. “It’s always up to God and the board,” in an interview on Fox Business’s “Mornings with Maria” program.
“There will be an appropriate time. I may stick around a couple [more] years,” as chairman or executive chairman, he added.
“I don’t know what I would do if I wasn’t fighting for something every day,” he said.
He did acknowledge that he was fired at one job. He helped build Travelers and when it merged with Citi got fired. “I was surprised,” he said. “But eventually you dust off and move on.”
