Amentum Holdings (AMTM), Walmart (WMT) and Philip Morris International (PM) took the top spots as the least shorted S&P 500 (SP500) stocks at September end.

Engineering solutions firm Amentum (AMTM), a new inclusion to the index, had a short interest of 376.11K shares as of Sep 30, representing 0.24% of its float. The stock is the newest addition to the S&P 500 after a spinoff from engineering and construction company Jacobs Solutions.

Philip Morris (PM) had a short interest of 8.33M shares, representing 0.54% of its float. The tobacco company saw an 18% decrease in short share volume during the month compared to Aug-end.

L3Harris Technologies (LHX) took the third spot, with a short interest of 1.12M shares as of Sep 30, representing 0.59% of the float. The defense contractor saw an 8.7% increase in short share volume during the month.
