Legislation aimed at easing the permitting process for artificial intelligence infrastructure building has passed the House of Representatives.
The House voted 221-196 to pass “The Speed Act,” a bipartisan piece of legislation aimed at making it easier to get permits involved for AI infrastructure and energy needed for data centers. The bill will now go to the Senate, which is working on a larger permitting reform issue.
Tech companies such as Micron (MU), OpenAI (OPENAI), Microsoft (MSFT) and others have come out in favor of The Speed Act.
