Lilly to discount Mounjaro in UK when price hike goes into effect – report

  • Eli Lilly will offer discounts off the cost of its weight loss drug Mounjaro (tirzepatide) in the UK when price hikes go into effect on Sept. 1.
  • The list price of the drug’s 15mg highest dose will hit £247.50 from £122 a month, with the discount, Sky News reported. Without it, the cost would have jumped to £330.
  • Discounts are proportionate to the dosage strenfth of Mounjaro.
  • Sky News said that about 1.25M UK citizens take weight loss drugs, and 90% of them take Mounjaro.
  • “We are now aligning the list price more consistently to ensure fair global contribution to the cost of innovation,” Lilly said in a statement to the news channel.
  • On Aug. 27, Lilly said it was temporarily pausing shipments of Mounjaro to the UK to prevent stockpiling before the price hike goes into effect.
