Eli Lilly will offer discounts off the cost of its weight loss drug Mounjaro (tirzepatide) in the UK when price hikes go into effect on Sept. 1.
The list price of the drug’s 15mg highest dose will hit £247.50 from £122 a month, with the discount, Sky News reported. Without it, the cost would have jumped to £330.
Discounts are proportionate to the dosage strenfth of Mounjaro.
Sky Newssaid that about 1.25M UK citizens take weight loss drugs, and 90% of them take Mounjaro.
“We are now aligning the list price more consistently to ensure fair global contribution to the cost of innovation,” Lilly said in a statement to the news channel.
On Aug. 27, Lilly said it was temporarily pausing shipments of Mounjaro to the UK to prevent stockpiling before the price hike goes into effect.
