U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene said late on Friday she will be resigning from Congress next year, following a recent fallout with President Trump and, in part, the Republican Party.
“I have fought harder than almost any other elected Republican to elect Donald Trump and Republicans to power, traveling the country for years, spending millions of my own money, missing precious time with my family that I can never get back, and showing up in places like outside the New York courthouse in Collect Pond Park against a raging leftist mob as Trump faced Democrat lawfare,” Greene wrote in a lengthy, four-page letter posted to X. “Meanwhile, most of the Establishment Republicans, who secretly hate him and stabbed him in the back, and never defended him against anything, have all been welcomed in after the election.”
She continued: “Loyalty should be a two way street and we should be able to vote our conscience and represent our district’s interest because our job title is literally ‘Representative.’ America First should mean America First and only Americans First, with no other foreign country ever being attached to America First in our halls of government. Standing up for American women who were raped at 14, trafficked and used by rich powerful men, should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for.”
Greene, who also posted a video accompanying the letter, said her last day will be Jan. 5, 2026.
In recent days, the 50-year-old Congresswoman representing the 14th district in Georgia has sparred with Trump and said the Department of Justice should the release the files pertaining to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, among other issues.
Trump has attacked Greene several times in recent days on Truth Social, including a Nov. 14 post in which he said he would be “withdrawing his support and endorsement” for her. He has also called her a “disgrace to our GREAT REPUBLICAN PARTY!”
Greene has been one of the more active legislators in terms of purchasing stocks. In 2025, she filed 18 Congressional trading forms, including one a week after President Trump’s inauguration.
Her most recent Congressional trading form disclosed that she purchased positions in companies on Sept. 11, with the stakes valued between $1,001 and $15,000. Among the companies she bought shares in include Alphabet (GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL), CrowdStrike (CRWD), Adobe (ADBE), biotech firm Amgen (AMGN), ASML Holding (ASML), and Digital Realty Trust (DLR).
She also acquired stakes in utility firm Duke Energy (DUK); asset managers Goldman Sachs (GS) and Morgan Stanley (MS); and purchased between $1,001 and $15,000 worth of the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) and between $100,001 and $250,000 worth of U.S. Treasuries.
