Meta appoints Dina Powell McCormick for new role, receives Trump praise

President Trump praised Meta Platforms’ (META) decision to appoint Dina Powell McCormick to a newly created role, focused on governments and artificial intelligence.

“Congratulations to Dina Powell McCormick, who has just been named the new president of Meta,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social on Monday. “A great choice by Mark Z!!! She is a fantastic, and very talented, person, who served the Trump Administration with strength and distinction! President DJT.”

As part of her new role, Powell McCormick, who worked as Deputy National Security Advisor under President Trump, will provide strategy on Meta’s AI infrastructure endeavors, the company said in a blog post.

“Dina’s experience at the highest levels of global finance, combined with her deep relationships around the world, makes her uniquely suited to help Meta manage this next phase of growth as the company’s President and Vice Chairman,” Meta CEO Zuckerberg said in the post.

Powell McCormick had resigned from Meta’s board of directors in December.

Prior to joining Meta, she worked for BDT & MSD Partners, where she was Head of Global Client Services. She has also worked at Goldman Sachs also served as Assistant Secretary of State for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice under President George W. Bush. McCormick is married to Sen. David McCormick (R.-Pa.).
