Microsoft (MSFT) announced today it has acquired Osmos, an agentic artificial intelligence data engineering platform designed to simplify complex data workflows.
No financial details on the acquisition were announced, but Osmos will be integrated into Microsoft Fabric, an AI-powered cloud analytics platform that combines data integration, engineering, warehousing and science into a single platform.
“With the acquisition of Osmos, we are taking the next step toward a future where autonomous AI agents work alongside people — helping reduce operational overhead and making it easier for customers to connect, prepare, analyze and share data across the organization,” said Bogdan Crivat, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Azure data analytics.
“The Osmos team will join Microsoft’s Fabric engineering organization to advance our vision for simpler, more intuitive and AI-ready data experiences,” Crivat added.
Osmos CEO Kirat Pandya said its products are natively built to operate in Microsoft Fabric, making this transaction smooth for its existing clients.
“By bringing Osmos’ technology and team into Microsoft, we have the opportunity to accelerate what we’ve been building and deliver it to a far broader audience—directly where customers already operate their data platforms,” Pandya said.
Osmos is based in Seattle and was founded by Pandya in 2019.
