Microsoft set to invest $10B in Portugal data center: report

  • Microsoft (MSFT) is getting set to invest $10B in a data center in Portugal as the company continues to spend significant sums of money to boost its artificial intelligence prowess, Bloomberg reported.
  • The data center will be located roughly 93 miles south of Lisbon, in the port city of Sines. Microsoft had secured a multi-year lease in Sines, known for its beaches and fishing industry, in October, the news outlet added. Microsoft is building the data center with Portuguese developer Start Campus and British AI startup Nscale.
