Microsoft set to receive 20% of total OpenAI revenue until 2032: report

  • Microsoft (MSFT) is set to receive 20% of OpenAI’s (OPENAI) total revenue until 2032, The Information reported.
  • Some of the payments will come in the later years of the agreement, the news outlet added, citing the company’s reworked deal this past fall. The 20% of total revenue to Microsoft is in exchange for OpenAI being allowed to work with other compute providers and not providing Microsoft with the first right of refusal. The original partnership saw Microsoft entitled to 20% of OpenAI’s total revenue through 2030.
  • OpenAI and Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
