Microsoft to hold cybersecurity event next month after CrowdStrike outage – report
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) was reportedly planning to hold a conference next month for cybersecurity firms to explore ways that the industry can change after the CrowdStrike outage.
MSFT is expected to meet CrowdStrike (CRWD) and other security companies at its campus in Washington, on September 10, CNBC reported.
Earlier in July, a defect in a CrowdStrike (CRWD) Falcon content update for Windows hosts led to the so-called “blue screen of death” on several Windows systems across the globe, affecting everything from airlines to banks and healthcare companies. Many have called the event the world’s biggest IT outage.
The firm is looking to discuss prevention of other such issues in the future, the report added.
Microsoft (MSFT) had reported that 8.5M Windows devices had been affected by the global outage.
The report added, that the participants at the event will look at the possibility of having application lean more on a part of Windows known as the user mode.
Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
