- Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) said on Monday that it will invest $400M in Switzerland as it looks to deepen its pushes into artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
- The investments include an expansion of its four existing data centers near Zurich and Geneva to meet growing cloud and AI demand; helping boost Switzerland’s startup and small and medium-sized businesses; aiding the Swiss people to better develop AI skills and competencies; and help Switzerland’s role as a global hub for responsible AI governance.
- “Switzerland has created one of the world’s leading innovation ecosystems, blending world-class research with real-world applications,” said Brad Smith, Microsoft Vice Chair and President in a statement. “For more than three decades, we have stood by our Swiss customers’ side. This latest investment helps further strengthen Switzerland’s long-term economic resilience and competitiveness, while ensuring full compliance with Swiss regulations.”
- Microsoft shares fell 0.4% in premarket trading.
