Microsoft (MSFT)-backed French company Mistral AI is acquiring cloud computing service provider Koyeb for an undisclosed amount.
Koyeb said it will bring its platform, technology, and team to accelerate Mistral Compute offering.
Koyeb operates a purpose-built serverless platform for teams to run AI applications, from application programming interfaces, or APIs, and agents on CPUs to high-performance inference on GPUs, with no ops, servers, or infrastructure management.
“When we first met the Mistral AI team and heard about their vision for Mistral Compute, we saw an incredible opportunity to accelerate the buildup of AI infrastructure in Europe. Mistral AI deploys 40 MW of data center capacity and 18,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs as a starting point and is expanding with a $1.4B data center investment in Sweden,” said Koyeb’s Yann Léger, Édouard Bonlieu, and Bastien Chatelard in a blog post on Tuesday.
Mistral did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
In September 2025, ASML (ASML) agreed to invest €1.3B in Mistral AI, giving the chip equipment maker an 11% stake in the French startup. This also marked one of Europe’s largest AI deals.
Last year in December, Mistral unveiled its next generation of AI models called Mistral 3.
Mistral AI’s CEO Arthur Mensch said in an interview on Bloomberg Television at the World Economic Forum in Davos last month that China is not behind the West in AI technology. His views differed from other tech leaders at Davos, who reassured lawmakers and business chiefs that China is behind the U.S. in AI by months or years.
