Most shorted S&P 500 stocks as a percentage of float

Etsy (ETSY), Paramount Global Class B (PARA) and CarMax (KMX) lead the list of most shorted S&P 500 stocks as a percentage of float in April.

As of April 30th, 13.08% of Etsy’s shares were sold short. The American e-commerce company witnessed a drop in short interest during the month, with traders selling 15.16M shares of ETSY short, a drop of 3.0% from mid-April.

Paramount (PARA), which slashed its losses in Q1 backed by subscriber growth, saw an increase in short interest in April, with 12.53% of its shares sold short.

Energy was the most shorted S&P 500 sector in April, followed closed by consumer discretionary and industrial. Communications services was the least shorted sector, with average short interest at 1.37% of shares float as of April.
