Most shorted S&P 500 stocks in November
Super Micro Computer (SMCI) maintained its position as the most shorted S&P 500 (SP500) stock as a percentage of float for the third consecutive month in November.
As of Nov. 30, 17.83% of Super Micro’s (SMCI) shares were sold short, compared to 18.98% at the end of October. The artificial intelligence server maker reported some positive developments in late November, appointing BDO USA as its new independent auditor and filing a compliance plan with the Nasdaq.
The San Jose, California-based firm has since then reported that an internal review found no evidence of misconduct by the board or audit committee and that no restatement of reported financials was expected. The company has been struggling with accounting issues and delayed its annual and quarterly filings as a result.
International Paper (IP) followed next, with traders selling 51.04M shares of IP short as of Nov 30 – up 15.3% from a month ago. 14.91% of IP shares are currently sold short.
Enphase Energy (ENPH) took the third spot, with a short interest of 19.14M shares, representing 14.76% of the float. The energy tech firm saw a 20.8% sequential growth in short interest volume during the month.
