Elon Musk on Saturday suggested that the U.K. government is being “fascist” amid allegations that his social media site X’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Grok was being used to digitally undress people without their consent.
In a social media post, the billionaire investor and CEO of the EV maker Tesla (TSLA) and space exploration company SpaceX (SPACE) said, “Why is the UK government so fascist?” His post included a table highlighting the U.K. as the country with the most arrests tied to online comments.
His comments came after the British Technology Secretary Liz Kendall called for urgent action against xAI (X.AI), which owns Musk’s social media platform X, after reports indicated that Grok was being extensively used to generate sexually manipulating images of women and children.
“Sexually manipulating images of women and children is despicable and abhorrent. It is an insult and totally unacceptable for Grok to still allow this if you’re willing to pay for it,” Kendall said, adding that she would back regulator Ofcom if it bans U.K. access to X, which runs Grok.
” I, and more importantly the public, would expect to see Ofcom update on next steps in days, not weeks,” Kendall noted.
