Netflix and BuzzFeed reportedly in talks to livestream ‘Hot Ones’ show
Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) is reportedly looking to livestream the popular YouTube talk show Hot Ones, and the company is in talks with BuzzFeed (NASDAQ:BZFD), which owns the series, Bloomberg reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Shares of BuzzFeed rose 10% in afternoon trading on Friday, NFLX was up nearly 2%.
The report, citing people who asked not to be identified because the talks may not materialize, said Netflix and BuzzFeed are seeking to reach an agreement this month.
Show host Sean Evans would host several live episodes of Hot Ones created specifically for Netflix under the scenario being discussed, the report said.
If talks are successful, the initiative will be a notable addition under its live program offerings, ahead of the two NFL games on Christmas Day and WWE Raw starting in January 2025.
Recent episodes of Hot Ones on YouTube, where the guest chats with the host while eating spicy chicken wings, featured celebrities like Donald Glover, Sabrina Carpenter, Sydney Sweeney, and Doja Cat, among many others.
