NASA announced on Monday that it will offer live programming on Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX). Audiences now will have another option to stream rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, mission coverage, and live views of Earth from the International Space Station.
Through the partnership, NASA expects that its work in science and exploration will become even more accessible, allowing the agency to increase engagement with and inspire a global audience in a modern media landscape. Notably, Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) has a global audience of more than 700 million people, which is a huge jump from the 12.4 million subscribers that Netflix (NFLX) has on its YouTube channel. NASA+ also remains available for free, with no ads, through the NASA app and on the agency’s website.
For Netflix (NFLX), the NASA partnership boosts the streamer’s live programming options in a new direction. In the recent past, Netflix (NFLX) has streamed live comedy specials, award shows, special events, and sports action such as WWE Raw, boxing matches, and NFL football games.
