Nevada casinos see growth again in September as strong slots numbers offset baccarat weakness
The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported that gaming win rose 3.3% in the state during September to $1.31 billion. Downtown Las Vegas casinos saw a 33.1% jump during the month, while Las Vegas Strip casinos saw a decline of 1.8%. Gaming win was up 12.4% at Reno casinos. Overall, gaming win for table, counter, and card games was down 8.8% to $416.0 million, even with a strong win percentage of 15.1% of the total amount gambled.
Nevada casinos were hurt by 37% decline in gaming win for baccarat games during the month to $93.7 million and a 31% drop in Pai Gow Poker gaming win to $7.6 million. Meanwhile, slot machines saw gaming win increased 10.1% to $896.9 million off a hold percentage of 7.7% of the total amount gambled.
The 3.3% increase in gaming win for September broke a two-month streak of year-over-year declines.
