Nio (NIO) commenced mass production of its Firefly right-hand drive (RHD) model, which is free from punitive U.S. tariffs on Chinese cars, to ramp up deliveries to the markets for RHD models next year.
The first batch from this production run is slated for shipment to Singapore, while the brand also plans to enter Thailand and Britain in 2026, according to a Reuters report that cites CEO Daniel Jin.
“We will significantly ramp up our efforts in countries without tariff barriers in the short term,” Jin added, naming Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia as key markets.
As of now, deliveries have commenced in the Netherlands, Norway, and Belgium, and test drives and deliveries will soon begin in Denmark, Greece, Austria, Portugal, and Luxembourg.
Firefly launched in April 2025, has an official guide price ranging from RMB119,800 to RMB125,800. The Firefly RHD model’s production advances Nio’s global expansion for its pure electric compact hatchback designed as a premium city car.
