Nvidia (NVDA) and Microsoft (MSFT) may join OpenAI’s (OPENAI) latest funding round, CNBC reported.
The news outlet added that Amazon (AMZN) may also be a part of the new funding, but the e-commerce giant’s inclusion has been previously reported.
Earlier this month, it was reported that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was in the Middle East talking to potential investors about raising additional funds. The new funding round, which could swell to $50B (or more), and may include previous investor SoftBank (SFTBY), could value the ChatGPT maker at more than $800B.
Nvidia, Microsoft, and OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
News of OpenAI’s new funding round comes days after reports that competitor Anthropic (ANTHRO) could raise as much as $20B in a new funding round that would value it at $350B. On Tuesday, CNBC reported that Anthropic had closed the latest funding round.
