Nvidia sees strong demand for H200 chips in China; has enough supply: report

Nvidia (NVDA) said it has seen strong demand from customers in China for its H200 chip that the Trump administration has said it will consider letting the company ship to the Asian nation, Bloomberg News reported.

CFO Colette Kress told analysts during a meeting at CES 2026 in Las Vegas on Monday that license applications have been filed and the government is deciding what it wants to do with them. Nvidia’s Founder and CEO Jensen Huang described the demand as strong, the report added.

Kress said regardless of the level of license approval, Nvidia has enough supply to serve customers in China without impacting the company’s ability to ship to customers elsewhere, the report noted.

Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.

The U.S. tech giant would also require the Chinese government’s approval for companies in the country to buy and use U.S. products. China previously discouraged government agencies and companies there from using an earlier, less powerful chip called H20.

Last week it was reported that Nvidia approached Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) about increasing production of H200 GPUs amid a surge in demand from China. Reportedly, Nvidia has plans in place to start shipping the H200 chips to China by the middle of February, assuming government approval.
