Nvidia (NVDA) is nearing a deal to invest $20 billion inOpenAI (OPENAI) as part of its latest funding round, marking the chipmaker’s single biggest investment in the ChatGPT developer, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Nvidia’s contribution is close to being completed, according to the people who spoke on condition of anonymity because the information is not public. The deal is not final, and the terms could change.
According to earlier reports, Nvidia’s (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang said the company’s proposed $100B investment in OpenAI was “never a commitment” and that the AI chipmaker would consider any funding rounds “one at a time.”
In September 2025, Nvidia noted that it intends to invest up to $100B in Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI (OPENAI) progressively to build and deploy at least 10 gigawatts of AI data centers with Nvidia systems.
