Nvidia’s (NASDAQ:NVDA) Co-Founder and CEO Jensen Huang will meet senior Chinese officials in Beijing next week, Bloomberg News reported.
Huang is eyeing discussions with Chinese leaders, including the commerce minister, the report added, citing a person with knowledge of the matter. Huang is attending the International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing next week and is planning those meetings alongside.
Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
Huang visit to China indicates the company’s potential commitment to a vast market, while the U.S. continues to tighten AI-related export curbs on the Asian country.
It is not clear what Huang plans to address with Chinese officials. A commerce ministry spokesperson said the department had no information to share, when asked about Huang’s visit, according to the report. Earlier on Thursday, the Financial Times reported that Huang planned to meet top officials during the event in Beijing.
Amid the ongoing U.S.-China trade tussle, last month Huang said that if the U.S. maintained its AI chip restrictions on China, Huawei Technologies is poised to capitalize on its strong position in the world’s second-largest economy.
On Wednesday, Nvidia made history by becoming the first company to hit a $4T market capitalization.
Shares of Nvidia rose about 1% premarket on Thursday.
