OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati said on Wednesday she is leaving the company.
“After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to leave OpenAI,” Murati wrote in a post on X.
Murati, who has been at the Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) backed startup for more than six years, added that she is leaving the company because she wants the “time and space” to do her own exploration and thanked the entire OpenAI team, including co-founder Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman.
“I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to build and work alongside this remarkable team,” Murati added. “Together, we’ve pushed the boundaries of scientific understanding in our quest to improve human well-being. While I may no longer be in the trenches with you, I will still be rooting for you all.”
OpenAI is in the process of raising additional funds that would value the ChatGPT creator at $150B.
