OpenAI pushes monetization efforts further with new $200/month plan

- Microsoft-backed (NASDAQ:MSFT) OpenAI is testing the limits of monetizing its artificial intelligence models as it announced a $200 per month subscription plan for its new ChatGPT Pro option.
- The Sam Altman-led startup revealed the new plan during a livestream today in what is Day 1 of its “12 Days of OpenAI.”
- “Today we’re also adding ChatGPT Pro, a new plan that allows us to offer the best of our models & tools at scale, including unlimited access to OpenAI o1 and a Pro-only version of o1 that thinks longer for even more reliable responses,” OpenAI posted on X.
- ChatGPT Pro offers unlimited access to ChatGPT 4o and o1, its newest reasoning model that is capable of completing more complex tasks. o1 is also capable of completing advanced math and coding problems.
- The Pro plan is available starting today and is quite a jump in price from its Plus plan, which costs $20 per month.
