Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI (OPENAI) said that more than one million business customers globally are directly using OpenAI.
This includes all organizations that actively pay OpenAI for business use — either via ChatGPT for Work or through direct consumption of its models through its developer platform, the company said in a blog post on Wednesday.
OpenAI noted that with more than 800 million weekly users already familiar with ChatGPT, adoption and return on investment, or ROI, within businesses is realized more rapidly.
The company added that it now has more than 7 million total ChatGPT for Work seats, up 40% in two months. ChatGPT Enterprise seats have grown nine times year-over-year.
OpenAI noted companies are creating new applications and agentic workflows directly on its platform. Canva, Figma, Zillow, Spotify (SPOT) and others have plugged their apps directly into ChatGPT.
Shopify (SHOP), Etsy, Walmart (WMT), PayPal (PYPL), and Salesforce (CRM) are building new shopping experiences through the Agentic Commerce Protocol in ChatGPT, bringing conversational commerce into the flow of everyday decisions, according to the company.
OpenAI said that customers such as Amgen (AMGN), Commonwealth Bank, Booking.com (BKNG), Cisco (CSCO), Lowe’s (LOW), Morgan Stanley (MS), T-Mobile (TMUS), Target (TGT) and Thermo Fisher Scientific (TMO) are already on board, and more are joining every week.
