OpenAI, which is backed by Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), has established a legal entity in South Korea with plans to open an office in Seoul in coming months.
The Al research and deployment company has started recruiting staff to support its partnerships in South Korea and plans to share more details in the coming months, the company said in a release Monday.
According to OpenAI, South Korea has the highest number of paying ChatGPT subscribers outside the United States. The Seoul office will be OpenAI’s third location in Asia, following Japan and Singapore. The San Francisco-based company currently has nearly 40 employees in Japan and about 20 in Singapore.
