PayPal Holdings (NASDAQ:PYPL) formed a new partnership with Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) Buy with Prime, the companies said on Wednesday, part of PayPal CEO Alex Chriss’s plan to accelerate the payment app’s growth.
For participating brands that integrate the Buy with Prime API, PayPal (PYPL) is available at checkout after shoppers log on to their Amazon account.
Starting next year, Prime members will be able to perform a one-time link of their Amazon (AMZN) account to their PayPal (PYPL) account so that Prime free shipping benefits are available automatically when they use PayPal while shopping with Buy with Prime on participating merchants’ websites.
PayPal (PYPL) also said it’s expanding the use of its PayPal Complete Payments (“PPCP”), its global payment solution for marketplaces and platforms comprised of flexible developer tools. Last week, PayPal said it’s partnering with Shopify (SHOP) to power part of Shopify Payments in the U.S. through PPCP.
PayPal stock rose 1.2% in midday Wednesday trading. Amazon (AMZN) slipped 0.2%.
