PayPal Holdings (PYPL) partnered with april, a tax technology platform, to provide a free DIY tax filing service to its U.S. PayPal Debit Mastercard (MA) customers for 2025 federal and state taxes, the company said on Tuesday.
The offering saves customers ~$160 in typical costs, the company said.
PayPal (PYPL) stock dropped 1.8% in premarket trading.
The debit card customers can file taxes following a step-by-step flow through april’s tax engine to enter information, upload documents, and file electronically with the IRS. For assistance, customers can use april’s AI-powered chatbot or obtain live support for a fee. The average time to file is less than 20 minutes, PayPal said.
“Our partnership with april empowers customers to manage even more of their finances in one trusted place, helping them streamline tax preparation and take meaningful steps toward setting up their finances for the year ahead,” said Shanthi Sarkar, VP of Debit and Money Management at PayPal (PYPL).
