To replace its aging riverboat property, Penn Entertainment (NASDAQ:PENN) announced the upcoming grand opening of its state-of-the-art, $185M land-based casino in Joliet, Illinois.

With the new casino set to open August 11 — six months ahead of schedule — Penn Entertainment (NASDAQ:PENN) will close the Hollywood Casino Joliet riverboat property on July 29.

The new Hollywood Casino Joliet will anchor its Rock Run Collection, a super-regional commercial and residential development located conveniently to downtown Chicago. The new casino will feature 1,000 slots and 43 live table games, including an ESPN BET sportsbook.

“The move from our existing riverboat significantly improves our offerings in the highly attractive Chicagoland market, and both our existing customers and new guests will be able to enjoy premier gaming, dining and entertainment at this exceptionally accessible new location,” Penn Entertainment CEO Jay Snowden said in May.

The welcome addition to the Penn Entertainment (NASDAQ:PENN) portfolio of properties is driving shares more than 3% higher Wednesday.
