A shakeup of top officials at HHS is continuing as Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill will be leaving that post.
O’Neill and General Counsel Mike Stuart will take other positions within the Trump administration, HHS officials told Politico.
O’Neill is also acting director of the CDC. It is unclear whether the change impacts that role.
The departure of O’Neill and Stuart comes on the heels of another Politico report on a staff email sent by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Thursday that Director of Medicare and CMS Deputy Administrator Chris Klomp will now oversee all HHS operations.
The email also noted several CMS and FDA officials will also become senior counselors at the respective agencies.
