- HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is being sued by various groups representing physicians and public health workers over his decision to change recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines for healthy children and pregnant women.
- “Unless the secretary’s baseless and uninformed policy decision is vacated, pregnant women, their unborn children, and, in fact, all children remain at grave and immediate risk of contracting a preventable disease,” the lawsuit states.
- Bloomberg, which reported on the suit filed in federal court in Massachusetts, noted that FDA Commissioner Marty Makary and NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya also also named defendants.
- The American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Public Health Association, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America are among the Plaintiffs.
- RFK Jr. made the change in COVID vaccine policy in May without consulting with the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Shortly after then, he fired all the members of the panel and replaced them with individuals he personally selected.
