Rivian Automotive (RIVN) has issued an over-the-air software update to fix a seatbelt issue in nearly 35K vehicles.
“A damaged seat belt pretensioner cable may not restrain the occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury during a crash,” the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Wednesday.
The recall covers 34,824 2022-2025 EDV vehicles. As part of the fix, Rivian has issued an over-the-air software update and will inspect and replace the driver’s seat belt pretension assembly as necessary.
The Rivian EDV is a fully electric panel van designed for package delivery, most notably in partnership with Amazon (AMZN).
