Rivian spinoff Also looks to create buzz with a next-gen electric bike

Micromobility startup Also disclosed details about its electric bike that will launch in spring 2026.

The TM-B Class 3 e-bike will offer riders pedal assistance up to 28 miles per hour, while a 5-inch touchscreen handles navigation, ride modes, and media. A companion app offers remote locking, tracking, and diagnostics. As for range, a detachable battery pack comes in standard and large sizes, offering up to 60 and 100 miles of assisted range, respectively.

Specifications for the TM-B include a max payload of 324 pounds, a max assist speed of 28 mph, an assist multiplier of up to 10X, a wheel torque of 180 nm, and a wheel size of 24 inches. The rider height range is 4′ 11″ – 6′ 8″.

The $4,500 Launch and Performance editions share features, while a cheaper standard model, priced below $4,000, will follow later next year.

Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN) spun off its micromobility business into the new startup in early 2025, aiming to focus on small, lightweight electric vehicles such as e-bikes, electric quads, and microcars designed for short-distance or urban transportation. The Also spinoff was initially funded with $105 million, coming from Rivian (NASDAQ:RIVN) itself, which retains a minority stake, and the venture capital firm Eclipse. The company later secured a significant $200 million investment from Greenoaks Capital, bringing its post-money valuation to $1 billion.
