Roblox (NYSE:RBLX) on Tuesday launched a new licensing service to allow holders of media and game intellectual properties to integrate and recreate experiences of their popular offerings on the virtual gaming platform.
The company said it is launching the license manager and licenses catalog with four initial partners, Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), Lionsgate (NYSE:LION), Sega (OTCPK:SGAMY), and Kodansha, and will offer seven initial IP titles for eligible creators, with two more coming soon.
“Netflix is extending its popular series, starting with Stranger Things and Squid Game, on Roblox,” according to an official statement by the company. “Lionsgate is bringing iconic franchises like Twilight, Saw, Divergent, and Now You See Me to Roblox.”
Roblox said it plans to onboard more IP holders throughout the year and aims to make its licensing services available to all eligible IP holders in the coming months. It is also exploring additional license types for creators and IP holders.
