Rocket Lab aborts launch in New Zealand at the last second
Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB) aborted a launch of its Electron rocket at the last second on Thursday. The company was scheduled to launch five “Internet of Things” satellites for the French company Kinéis from New Zealand.
Rocket Lab (RKLB) said that Electron’s flight computer aborted on a ground systems sensor trigger and safely shut down the engines. Electron, the launch pad, and Kineis’ payload were all noted to remain healthy. “Since today’s mission required an instantaneous launch, we’ll be standing down from further launch attempts today. The team is assessing opportunities for the next launch attempt, and we’ll share more information here shortly,” updated Rocket Lab (RKLB) on social media site X.
Shares of Rocket Lab (RKLB) were up 2.67% in premarket trading on Thursday to $7.31 vs. the 52-week range of $3.47 to $7.53. Short interest on RKLB stands at 11.5% of the total float.
