Russia plans to boost defense spending by 23% in 2025
Russia in 2025 will increase spending on national defense by 23% to 13.5 trillion rubles ($145.32 billion) from 10.8 trillion rubles this year, according to a draft budget published on Monday. The increase is another sign of the country’s commitment to the war in Ukraine.
Defense spending will make up 32% of the country’s total budget expenditure in 2025, or 41.5 trillion rubles.
In 2026, spending on defense is estimated to decline to 12.8 trillion rubles, with about 10% going to military personnel.
