Salesforce, Google expand partnership to increase focus on AI, boost Gemini access

Salesforce (NYSE:CRM) and Alphabet’s Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) announced an expansion of their existing partnership on Thursday to focus on artificial intelligence, specifically bringing the search giant’s Gemini AI models to the former’s Agentforce 360 Platform.

Salesforce shares rose more than 6% in premarket trading amid optimism surrounding its annual Dreamforce event, while Alphabet shares rose 0.6%.

As part of the deal, Google’s Gemini models will come to more of its Workspace software suite and work with Agentforce 360. This allows sales and IT services to have access to Google’s latest models, and Salesforce’s Atlas reasoning engine, the companies said in a statement.

The deal will also see Gemini come to Salesforce-owned Slack, via the work management software’s search API. This is particularly noteworthy, given that OpenAI (OPENAI) recently unveiled AgentKit, aimed at making it easier for workflow automation to integrate into ChatGPT.

“In the enterprise environment, it’s imperative for AI agents to be highly capable and highly consistent, especially for critical use cases,” said Silvio Savarese, Chief Scientist at Salesforce, in a statement. “Together, we are setting a new standard for building the future of what’s possible in the Agentic Enterprise down to the model level.”

“The deeper integration of Google Workspace with Gemini and Salesforce has the power to fundamentally improve how teams get work done,” said George Kwon, VP of Product Management for Google Workspace Platform and Growth. “This integration unifies critical business information with powerful AI assistance, helping teams across sales, customer service, and IT make smarter decisions and streamline their work with critical information, all from the tools they use every day.”

On Wednesday, Salesforce said it expects revenue by fiscal 2030 to hit $60B, above analysts’ estimates.
