A bipartisan group of senators is reportedly close to introducing legislation that would bring back enhanced ACA subsidies that expired on Jan. 1.
Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) told Politico that text could be finalized as early as Jan. 12.
The legislation would resume the enhanced tax credit for two years, have minimum payments, and establish new caps on income. Also, there would be cost-sharing reduction elements and greater access to health savings accounts.
Enrollees would have a $5 monthly minimum premium and those making above 700% of the federal poverty level would be ineligible for subsidies, Politiconoted.
Moreno explained that those who receive the expanded subsidies could elect to have that money put into a pre-funded health savings account in year two of the extension.
