Snapchat parent to launch AR glasses ‘Specs’ in 2026

Snap (NYSE:SNAP) will launch its sixth-generation augmented reality spectacles, which will be simply called “Specs,” next year, the company said in a statement Tuesday.

Specs are expected to be lightweight, implement advanced machine learning for AI assistance, enable shared games and experiences, and provide a flexible and powerful workstation for browsing, streaming, and other things, the company said.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the extraordinary progress in artificial intelligence and augmented reality that is enabling new, human-centered computing experiences. We believe Specs are the most advanced personal computer in the world, and we can’t wait for you to see for yourself,” CEO Evan Spiegel said.

Pricing details for Specs were not disclosed.

The company said it is also making “major updates” to the Snap OS to include deep integrations with OpenAI and Gemini on Google Cloud, among other things, following developer community feedback, and launching new tools specifically for developers to build location-based experiences.
