- Japanese tech conglomerate SoftBank (OTCPK:SFTBY) will invest $500M into OpenAI as part of its latest funding round, The Information reported, citing a person familiar with the deal.
- The investment will come from SoftBank’s Vision Fund, which was set up in 2017 to invest in emerging technologies, the news outlet added.
- A number of other companies are investing in the Sam Altman-led company, though Apple (AAPL) recently backed out, The Wall Street Journal reported recently.
- OpenAI, which is backed by Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), in the final stages of raising $6.5B in new funding that would value the company at $150B.
