Spirit AeroSystems is said to plan furloughs as Boeing strike continues
-
Spirit AeroSystems (NYSE:SPR) will begin furloughs in three weeks if a strike at Boeing (NYSE:BA), its biggest customer, continues, the Financial Times reported Thursday. The possible furloughs are one sign of how the work stoppage at Boeing’s (BA) factories in the Pacific Northwest affects the aerospace supply chain.

Spirit (SPR) makes the fuselage, or main body, for the best-selling 737 Max. The plane is assembled at a Boeing (BA) factory where the strike started this month.
-
Spirit (SPR) was behind schedule, and was using the work stoppage to catch up on filling older orders, the Financial Times reported.
-
If the Boeing (BA) strike lasts beyond mid-October, Spirit (SPR) wouldn’t be buffered from it any longer.

Boeing (BA) management this week presented striking workers with a revised labor contract that the aviation company described as its best and final offer.
