Switzerland’s competition authority has launched a preliminary probe into Microsoft (MSFT) regarding the licensing fees it charges local clients, following complaints about recent price hikes.
The “significant” price hikes for Microsoft 365 will be examined to see whether they constitute “an unlawful restriction of competition,” the regulator known as Comco said in astatementon Wednesday.
“Should such indications be confirmed, this could warrant the opening of a formal investigation. Consideration may be given to involving the expertise of the Price Supervision Authority,” the statement said.
