- President Trump said the U.S. government will allow Nvidia (NVDA) to sell its H200 AI chips to “approved customers” in China under certain conditions, with 25% of the proceeds going to the U.S. government.
“I have informed President Xi, of China, that the United States will allow NVIDIA to ship its H200 products to approved customers in China, and other Countries, under conditions that allow for continued strong National Security. President Xi responded positively! $25% will be paid to the United States of America,” Trump said in a lengthy post on Truth Social.
“We will protect National Security, create American Jobs, and keep America’s lead in AI. NVIDIA’s U.S. Customers are already moving forward with their incredible, highly advanced Blackwell chips, and soon, Rubin, neither of which are part of this deal,” Trump continued.
“My Administration will always put America FIRST. The Department of Commerce is finalizing the details, and the same approach will apply to AMD (AMD), Intel (INTC), and other GREAT American Companies,” Trump added.
- Microsoft (MSFT) founder Bill Gates said he sees the AI market as “hyper competitive” and expects some company valuations to drop.
“AI is the most important thing going on,” Gates told CNBC during an event in Abu Dhabi. “Does it mean all of these companies with high valuations will be winners? No, it’s going to be hyper competitive.”
Gates added, “AI is only a bubble in the sense that not all of these valuations will end up going up. Some of them will go down,” noting that AI was a “highly profound technology that will reshape the world.”
- The War Department announced that Alphabet’s (GOOG) (GOOGL) Gemini for Government will be the first enterprise AI deployed on its new GenAI.mil AI platform.
“There is no prize for second place in the global race for AI dominance,” said Emil Michael, Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering, in a statement. “We are moving rapidly to deploy powerful AI capabilities like Gemini for Government directly to our workforce. AI is America’s next Manifest Destiny, and we’re ensuring that we dominate this new frontier.”
“Through this deployment of Google Cloud’s ‘Gemini for Government’ offering, more than 3 million civilian and military personnel will be able to access the same advanced AI that businesses use every day to drive administrative efficiency and greater business productivity,” said Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, in a statement.
“This is a significant step in accelerating AI adoption across the public sector—all hosted within Google’s secure and reliable systems,” Pichai added.
