Tech Voices: Tesla robotaxi update, Trump admin. unveils Tech Force

  • Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk confirmed that his company was now testing its robotaxis without human safety monitors on board.

“Testing is underway with no occupants in the car,” Musk said in a post on X on Sunday.

Musk posted his remarks in response to a video posted on X of a Tesla robotaxi driving around Austin with no occupants.

Other companies involved in developing robotaxi services include Amazon’s (AMZN) Zoox, Alphabet’s (GOOG) (GOOGL) Waymo, Pony AI (PONY), WeRide (WRD) and Baidu (BIDU).

  • The Trump administration has launched a new government entity called US Tech Force that will focus on federal tech projects such as AI infrastructure.

“Tech Force will be an elite group of ~1,000 technology specialists hired by agencies to accelerate artificial intelligence implementation and solve the federal government’s most critical technological challenges,” according to the Tech Force’s new website.

Tech Force plans to recruit both early-career and seasoned tech professionals from the private sector to serve two-year terms as employees of the federal government. In particular, the group will be seeking out workers with skills in software engineering, AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, or technical project management, the website said.
