The California Department of Motor Vehicles said Tesla (TSLA) has brought its marketing practices into compliance and will avoid a previously threatened 30-day suspension of vehicle sales in the state.
In a statement Tuesday, the agency said Tesla has taken “corrective action” to address concerns related to how it promotes its automated-driving capabilities.
In December, Tesla was given 90 days to come into compliance after a ruling from an administrative judge on the state regulator’s allegations that the company was overstating the capabilities of features marketed as Autopilot and Full Self-Driving.
Since then, the EV maker has discontinued its Autopilot product and increasingly adopted the term “Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” in its advertising, emphasizing that the driver-assistance system is not fully autonomous and requires continuous driver oversight.
