Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) is recalling select 2025 Model 3 and 2026 Model Y vehicles due to a potential battery pack contactor failure that could result in a loss of drive power, the
Affected vehicles are equipped with a battery pack contactor manufactured with InTiCa solenoid, which may suddenly open due to poor coil termination connection, potentially causing a sudden loss of propulsion, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in the recall report.
If the contactor opens when the vehicle is in drive, the driver loses the ability to apply torque to the vehicle using the accelerator pedal, resulting in a loss of propulsion, which may increase the risk of a collision. No warning occurs prior to the loss of propulsion.
Tesla will replace the battery pack contactor, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 9, 2025. The recall is expected to affect approximately 12,963 vehicles.
